        Practical Information

Playball offers different movement programs for boys and girls between the ages of 2 and 8.  All of the programs are taught in a fun-filled, energetic and positive environment and for the last 25 years children from all over the world have enjoyed the positive impact that our programs have had on their lives.
At face value Playball seems to have only 2 main objectives; improving basic movement skills and refining sports skills and techniques
However, the success of this program is in actual fact that through competent sports participation, achieved through sound coaching principles, children secure a solid base from which to develop many other and more important aspects of their lives.
Our goal is clear. To teach sport properly so that any child who attend Playball will achieve a level of competence.  All the programs have been developed, improved and re-designed over the past 25 years resulting in a coaching system that is educational and appropriate in every aspect.
The programs are age specific, with ach of our programs taking into account the differences in the cognitive, emotional and social development of the children taught in each age group.

Class Numbers
Depending on the program there are between 6 and 10 children in a class.
The numbers are small enough to clearly monitor development and progression and large enough to ensure a fun-filled environment for the children.
  Equipment

Each program uses equipment that has been specifically designed for each of the age groups. All the equipment obviously complements all the exercises that are taught.
  Classes and break times

The classes take place on tennis courts, sports centers and schooll halls.  Each class lasts 1 hour, with a small break, where the children will sit and have something to snack on and drink.  Parents will need to bring the snacks & drink with them.
**Please note that for the 2 yrs group, sessions last 30mins.
  What to wear for Playball
Children are advised to wear something comfortable, that they can easily move about in.  Sneakers are advisable.  No crocs or sandals please. In summer, the classes will be held outside, so a hat and sunscreen are essential.
  What about parents?
Parents are welcome to drop their children at Playball classes and not stay for the duration of the class.  In fact, this is even more beneficial for the children.  However, if your child is shy, it is advisable to spend some time with them in the class or nearby watching until they are happy to be left alone.

Frequently Asked Questions

I’m not sure how my child will react at the first lesson.

For all ages, it is not uncommon for a child to attend several classes before feeling comfortable in class. Don’t be discouraged – your child is just adjusting to a new environment and, for some of them, a completely new experience with a new teacher and new friends. Our primary concern is that you allow the coach to initiate and maintain a Playball relationship with your child. Remember that all children learn at different paces. While it may seem as if your child is not "getting into the class" at first, you'd be surprised at what they are actually learning. Let your child have the time he/she needs to adjust, adapt, and absorb the class environment.

All the classes are full, can I place my child in an older lesson?

Playball believes that children learn best when presented with learning objectives that are designed with the age of the child in mind. This is the best way for a child to gain confidence and self-esteem. Placing a child in a class that is too advanced will only cause frustration, as the child will not experience success in the same measures as his/her classmates. We want this experience to be positive and to foster physical, emotional and social confidence in each child. Each curriculum level is designed by child development professionals to best suit the physical milestone stages and goals of the age range they address. Please accept our professional judgment when placing a child in a particular class.

Our Policy on "trials"

When your child trials a class, we accept this as your first lesson and your fees will be calculated accordingly, should you wish to continue.  Should you choose not to continue after the first lesson, there will be no charge.  It's a no-lose situation and everyone's happy!   Payment and your enrolment form must be handed to the coach at the first lesson should you choose to hold your place in the lesson.
